HOUSE ROCKLANDS
With its white clocktower dominating the Cradock skyline, Rocklands House stands as a prominent landmark, not only in the town but throughout the Cape Midlands region.
Since the cornerstone was laid in 1905, Rocklands House has been home to countless girls who have passed through its historic hallways. The grand staircases connecting the entrance hall to the rooms exude an old-world charm, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere.
Despite being over a century old, the hostel is maintained in pristine condition. The well-kept gardens and shady trees provide a tranquil environment for the girls, and with most of the sporting facilities on the premises, it offers a safe and nurturing home away from home.
Although the school buildings were renamed Cradock High School in 1972, the legacy of the once renowned girls’ school endures in the name of the hostel – Rocklands House.
HOUSE REINHARDT
Reinhardt House, now serving as the boys’ hostel for Cradock High School, has a rich history. Originally the Cradock Preparatory School until 1992, it is now the dedicated residence for boys, continuing its legacy of education and care in a new role.
This well-maintained hostel provides a safe and supportive environment for its residents. Nestled within the scenic Karoo landscape, Reinhardt House offers easy access to the school’s extensive sports and academic facilities, making it a convenient and nurturing home for the boys. The hostel’s heritage and tradition, combined with modern amenities, ensure that each boy’s stay is both comfortable and enriching, fostering personal growth and academic excellence.
