A Legacy of Excellence: The Journey of
Cradock High School

In 1972, two well-known schools in Cradock amalgamated to form the new renowned Cradock High School.

By then, Rocklands Seminary for Girls had become a household name for excellence in sports and academic achievements. It was an established school catering for girls from Sub A to Standard 10 on the lovely premises of the current Cradock High School.

Cradock Boys’ High School, situated on the pristine grounds of the current Cradock Primary School, was a school where boys not only received an academic education but also were coached to become brilliant sportsmen.

When the two schools amalgamated in 1972, the high school students moved to the current high school grounds and the primary school students moved to the Boys’ High buildings. Bathrooms for the boys were added, as well as a Science laboratory, a Woodwork classroom and a few extra classrooms.

Mr M. Rust was the first principal and did a sterling job during those early teething years.

In July of 1991, the Midlands Commercial High School closed its doors for the very last time. Students and teachers were accommodated in Cradock High School.

In 2022, Cradock High celebrated its 50th birthday. It has proven to be a school that continues to build on the excellent foundations established by its predecessors while remaining open to change to stay relevant in the modern world.

"At Cradock High, we believe in nurturing learners to flourish holistically, fostering an environment that is both disciplined and structured, yet vibrant with growth opportunities."
